Teaching job is one of the valuable and exciting jobs. Apparently, it looks easy, but you will be able to find it is practically not. You need to study hard in order to teach someone. Otherwise, you will have no idea what you should do, what you teach, and how to react. Especially, teaching English as a non-native speaker is a big challenge in many aspects. I have teaching experience for many years. Of course, it is a different field, but I believe the basic principle is the same. Learning English has been being essential all over the world recently and the English teaching industry has been growing rapidly. Most people study English in their country and many of them go abroad to study. While I study English at school, I was not so serious about it as I was not into any kind of subject. Since I made a decision to go abroad, I began to study English seriously. However, it was not easy in my country. If you study a foreign language in your country, it won't work efficiently. Everybody speak your mother tongue and everything is written in your language. It cannot be a good environment to learn a foreign language. Therefore, I determined to dump me into the English society and it worked. Learning English for Asian people is a bigger challenge than other westerners. Learning a language is learning the culture. There are many things in common among the western society. You can find similar words and expressions between English and other western languages because they are based on the Latin language basically. I have a Czech friend who has a Korean girlfriend. They begin to study English at the same time, but his progress was much faster than her. He found many words and expressions are similar, so he could catch it easier. After I lived in Australia and the States for 5 years, my English skill was improved a lot. Having a married to a native English speaker was the most helpful. Everything was spoken in English and it had trained my brain quickly. Since I completed my TESOL certificate course, I began to find an English teaching job abroad. I could ask the administration of ITTT, but wanted to challenge something first. My first challenge was an online teaching job. I applied for a job at a company and got a response several days later. They rejected me, but I was not so disappointed because I expected somehow. There must be several reasons. The first, I am not a native English speaker, the second, I do not have lots of experience for teaching English. I am not sure if the reason is that I am an Asian. They didn't even give me a chance for the job interview. Thus, I began to wonder how the racism is strong in this field because I already have had the experience like that while I lived in the western countries. While I researched online, I found many Asian English teachers have the same experience as mine. Some people say there must be a chance, but it looks pretty rare. Of course, it doesn't necessarily mean that I am going to give it up. I strongly believe there must be an opportunity. I had met many nice people and they were willing to help me every time I needed.
