In this lesson, I first learned about the various language teaching methodologies. One teaching methodology is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), in which language function is very important. Activities using this methodology tend to be about real life situations. Next, we learned about the Engage, Study, and Activate method, created by Jeremy Harmer. This is a great method for new teachers. The Engage part is where the teacher gets the teachers excited and interested in the lesson. Study is where students will focus on the language. And Activate is where the students will use the language they already know and the new language they have acquired. It is very important to praise the students, and not to correct during the Engage and Activate stages.
