Classroom is an environment where the teacher and students interact with each other, and this environment has a management and rules. Classroom management contributes class environment to be healthy and learning process to happen. Therefore, teacher and student can obtain a successful result from this process. One of the most difficult sides of being a teacher is to manage the class in line with its purpose. The most important factors of managing the class in line with its purpose are the teacher’s competences, personality and strategies which he/she follows. Teachers should start classroom management at the moment they enter the class. Greeting the students, attract their attention enable teacher to maintain the classroom management. Instead of starting the lesson instantly, asking them how the students are doing will build student’s self-confidence and respect for the teacher. The clothes, voice, gestures and mimics of the teacher also affect the classroom management for the students seeing the teacher as role model. Teachers should care for the student’s thoughts in the class. They should ask thought-provoking, open-ended questions. They should approach to the student’s answer tolerantly and direct students to the right answer in case of wrong or lacking answers. Another important issue of classroom management is to know the student. Teachers can address the student’s needs if they identify these needs. Looking the students in the eye with addressing them with their name is a medium to reach the student. The connection to be established with the students should influence their heart first so that it can affect their mind. Academic qualities of the teacher are quite important. Teachers should have a full grasp of the subject they will teach so that they can have a command of the instruction and the following process. Teacher should not employ direct instruction but students must be able to participate in the process and enjoy it with the activities. The more the student is focused on the subject, the less problems there will be. Teachers are not only a teacher. Teachers have many roles. Their main role is to be a friend or parent without forgetting to be a teacher. There are many students, many ideas and many differences in the classroom. Teacher must always be aware of that. They should always keep in mind that each student is valuable, every idea is esteemed and differences mean wealth. Spare time for each student. Classroom management will be rather difficult if the class addresses only to successful students. Therefore, the whole class should participate the lesson. If the students are dealing with something, they will not cause any problem. A problem may occur anytime when students are set loose. An activity involving the teacher should be performed when the subject is completed. Teacher and student should identify the classroom rules together. These identified rules should be binding, clear and understood to the whole class. Each person has different experiences. Teachers also share their experiences among each other, issues deemed to be helpful should be implemented. Teachers should empathize with students. They should tolerantly approach to these students who are striving to learn something whole day with their young dreams. They also should notice the students who argue or have problems with someone in the home or school, and they should tolerate their mistakes. Teachers should not bring the undesirable but the desirable behavior. They should say “well done” to the student who listens the class instead of saying “be quiet” to the student who speaks in the class. Wording used against the student is very important. Teachers should use I language. They should say “I am sorry that you do not study” instead of “You do not study”. They should stay calm in case of a negativity in the class. Having a quick temper is a weakness for a teacher. They should not correct each mistake but sometimes ignore them. There may be problems in the classroom management constantly. Teacher should not search for the best but optimum solution for these problems. Potential problems may be avoided by using holistic model. In conclusion, a teacher’s classroom management must be effective to be able to use the learning process efficiently. Teachers who can well manage the classroom can reach to job satisfaction. Their students will learn better. Their success level will increase and the self-confidence of the individual will enhance. Furthermore, students will respect each other more in a well-managed classroom. Management have great importance in the classroom as in every constitution of the society because school is one of the keystones of society. A healthy classroom management leads to a healthy society.
