Lesson planning is important in the classroom as it helps teachers to create a logical and structured sequence for each lesson. When a teacher is pre-planning a lesson it is important first to understand what the focus of the lesson will be and the learning objectives of the students. A teacher will also require a pre-plan of what will be used within a lesson. For new teachers it can be very helpful to pre plan a lesson as it will guide the teacher within the lesson and help to determine if there is anywhere they need to focus on more or less or perhaps determine if certain criteria needs to be re evaluated for the students to maximize learning within the classroom. When first having started as a new teacher within a school it was very helpful to plan each lesson out as having no prior experience can be hard to make the lesson flow or it can be difficult to manage time given for each criteria in the lesson itself within the certain time frame given for each class. When planning the lesson, it was helpful to have a piece of paper to guide me on what was needed for me to teach. For instance, I had written what the context of the lesson would be, what my aims where to teach within the lesson and certain objectives for each lesson to evaluate what the students had learner, as it was vital for me to understand if I needed to further teach a certain subject as it could be that the students did not grasp the objective in the first lesson and may need further teaching. It was also helpful for me as a beginner teacher to write down my aims for each lesson at the begging of the class and to write down at the end of the class if I had achieved my aims or if I needed to improve my aims or possibly if I had new aims as the lesson had progressed. This allowed me to understand how successful I was when implementing my ESA lesson and if I had given enough time in creating a flowing lesson where students understood what was being taught and could properly participate in class discussions or their work sheets or understood the games that where provided. Lesson planning is important for new teachers as it not only helps the teacher to feel confident when starting their lesson but it also helps to understand as a teacher their individual goals to improve each lesson and the quality of their ESA structure in each lesson. When starting as a beginner teacher it was important for me to have a guided lesson plan as it helped me to focus on the needs of my students and it helped me to understand how to structure my future lessons to allow me to maximize my learning in how to corporate teacher talk time with activities and student talk time and group activities evenly within each lesson.
