Man has been using language as a medium of communication for ages, today due to globalization,English language has become the most prized possession of communication. English may not be the most spoken language but is considered as the international language and has become the most important language to people in many parts of the world. It is widely use all across the globe. It is the universal language because it is the most spoken language worldwide. At least 20% of the world’s population is English speaking countries or native speakers and many countries adopt English as their second language, like my country, Philippines. Here for me are some reasons why English must be taught globally. First of all, English is the language of international business. English is the dominant global language and it has become almost a requirement for people to speak English at a work place or if someone is to enter a global workforce. English is most spoken in business trades and transactions all over the globe. I’m a movie fanatic and Hollywood is a powerhouse when it comes to bringing good quality movies all over the globe. Those movies can be dubbed or sometimes may have subtitles but they’re really best enjoyed in the language they were intended. Knowing to speak and understand English helps a lot when we travel. English is most often travelers share and local people use when communicating to visitors. Having the knowledge of the English language helps in tourism or promoting local culture. Staff in tourism industry need to be able to communicate with costumers,local or foreign in order to provide good services. After all when the tourism industry of one country booms, it will be in their advantage and it could help their economy too. English gives you the advantage to get a good job in multinational companies within your country or in abroad compared to someone who doesn’t specially in countries which English is not widely spoken of. Companies especially in big cities prepare someone who can communicate in English. English is the language of international communication, the media and the internet, the majority of websites are written and created in English. So, learning English is important for socializing and entertainment, more newspapers, magazines and books are written in English. There are so many popular and beautiful songs written and sang in English too. English is also the most dominant language in Sciences and most of the research and studies you find in any given scientific field is written in it. There are some Science terminologies which don’t have equivalent words in your native language.More than any language, English continues to evolve and absorb new words. State leaders mostly use English to communicate. They attend conferences and meet other country leaders to talk and discuss important matters for unity and projects across the globe. Whether in entertainment or media, in school and in business world, know how to speak English gives you the advantage over someone who doesn’t. So, it’s very important to be open to learn this language,it opens many opportunities, after all English plays a major role in the progress, not just individually but of globalization.
