This chapter features present tense in addition to different aspects, that is, present simple, present continuous and present perfect and present perfect continuous. The whole discussion is unfolded in terms fo “from”, “use”, “typical errors’ and available teaching activities. As a Chinese English teacher, actually, I’ve been exposed to English grammar for many years and these language issues are quite clear to me. However, what’s more difficult is that how to help my students depict a clear picture of this grammar point in their mind. From my own learning and teaching experience, the hardest part of the grammar doesn’t fall on the understanding of the meaning of these different tense-aspect but how to master the irregular form of present/past participles and how to distinguish the use of each tense-aspect. Although teacher may have given explicit grammar explanation, sometimes students still get confused about which tense-aspect to use. Thus, we may need more examples as well as activities to help students observe and discover the rules by themselves to achieve a better teaching result.
