I am amazed at how much grammar I have forgotten. As a native speaker of English, I can speak, read and write properly in English every day. Since speaking English is easy and natural for me, I need to remember how complicated a language it is and will need to constantly remind myself of this when trying to teach others. In addition, being able to utilize the language in my every day life does not mean that I know the grammatical terminology for every sentence I use. I think focusing too much on the grammar and "rules" of the language may compound the difficulty in learning it for new English language learners.
