Unit 1 provides an overview of the CTEYL course and gives a glimpse into the work opportunities available for TEYL instructors. It was both reassuring and wonderful to learn that prospects are great for TEYL instructors. I am in process of making a career change (after 19 years of working in the food industry) to teaching English as a Foreign Language. I will also be learning Japanese at the same time. I learned a lot from the 120 hr TESL course about learning a second language and am very excited to continue learning about learning and language acquisition theories in the CTEYL and CTBE courses. It will benefit me in the classroom when teaching my students and personally as well.
