This unit discusses classroom management from 9 different yet interconnected perspectives. It starts from emphasizing the importance of eye contact, gesture and the voice used in the classroom on the teacher’s part.Then it continues to talk about different ways to group the students and arrange the seating while presenting their pros and cons.After that, it offers suggestions on writing on the board and advises strategies in giving individual attention.It also brings upon the discussion of TTT and STT and asks the teachers to keep it simple in giving instructions. Apart from those, establishing rapport between and among teachers and students are also discussed. Last but not least, it explains the factors to maintain discipline and gives reasons for and offers suggestions to dealing with problem behavior. After reading through this unit, it has come to my attention that the ways a teacher behave in the classroom, whether a teacher is standing, sitting or talking could in one way or another affect the dynamism in the classroom. It is important for a teacher to be really clear about what to say, when to say it, where to stand or sit, when to write and what to write on the board, who to talk to and what to talk about, and when to use words and when to use body language such as gestures and eye contact, as students might be sensitive to any if not all of these aspects. I have also learned that it’s important to treat students equally and not let personal feelings influence your treatment of students as discipline problems may come from the teacher instead of the students. And also, it’s important to understand that it’s possible to “go over the top” with rules.
