Avoid jargon and elaboration. I find this very inspiring. Some of my students are at lower level. The materials we use for teaching are developed by the language institution I work at. So there are always some mistakes and some of them are not commensurate with the level of the students. eg, there can be passive voice in materials for beginners. When coming across these, I always try to elaborate a little. So perhaps I should just skip this part totally or maybe translate it but then move on.
