I. Introduction I.I Background During my course in ITTT, it has been emphasized in many units that to develop a good class flow, a teacher could consider on using ESA teaching method. The teaching method that has to start with Engage sequence and ended with Activate sequence, where in between it might be possible to implement patched Study-Engage-Activate sequences or straight flow of ESA. Related to my personal experience, my classes are for young learners with age span of 3 to 5 years old. The class is expected to be conducted following study plans from the school’s headquarter. The school has sets of each lesson’s study plan from the beginning up until the end of the term, completed with the assessments and class activity. The headquarter has a separate and specialized department on developing the curriculum, and the lesson plans are to be tested before implemented on the real class. I.II Statement The study plans prepared by the school for each lesson accord to the ESA teaching method by starting the class with Engage and ending with Activate. II. Teaching Technique for Young Learners: Based on Class Experience II.I ESA Teaching Method Below are the ESA teaching methods’ sequences explanation when applied on the class that I have conducted, they followed the similar principal with some additional adaptation in order to fit the students’ learning needs based on their age. Engage: The point (activities) in a teaching sequence where the teacher try to trigger the students to be familiar with English words, to reduce the anxiety towards the foreign language. the activities involving their interest and inserting easy words and rhymes. Some activities are music, dance, videos. Study: The point (activities) in a teaching sequence where the teacher teach the points of the lesson, using certain methods that are interesting for the student in order to lock their attention, keep the students entertained while also learning in the same time. Some activities and props needed are: videos from interactive board, picture cards, dolls, crayon, study book. Activate: The point(activities) in a teaching sequence where the students are suppose to use the language points and new knowledge learned at class as much as possible. The focus of this sequence is to encourage the students to speak and use the learned points. Encouraging the students to speak is very important in order to let the teacher know that the students understand and can use the learned language points confidently, this will ease the teacher conducting the assessment. Some activities are: Game, quiz using interactive board, craft work related to the lesson. II.II Class Flow Sample Below is a simplified class flow of my class that is classified based on the sequences. Conclusion The class flow of the class based on the school headquarter's lesson plan is conducted based on similar principle that I have studied during my TEFL course. All the steps of the class lesson plan are carefully studied and researched for maximum study result. Due to cultural background, the lessons for young learners are focused to reduce the foreignness of the language, allowing the students not to feel afraid on talking in order to increase their confidence on using the language.
