This unit overlooks the most popular learning theories to then go into the different between learning our native language and learning a second language. With this in mind, the lesson then proceeds to explain how, when working with younger learners, we need to make a difference between the youngest ones and the older ones based on the skills and abilities shown depending on the age group they belong to. The unit describes the different class arrangements we can have depending on the activity planned, as well as the various roles that as a teacher we need to cover. The organization of the classroom will vary regarding the seating arrangement depending on the activity we have going on, the type of involvement the teacher will need to have, the communication between students, among other factors. The language skills learners are able to use will mostly depend on two factors: their age range and their level. When planning our activities and lessons it is important that we take into consideration the maturity level of the students, which includes having a clear idea of their likes and dislikes according to their age. With this in mind, we will basically consider that for young learners activities must be short with short instructions, very active and full of movement, we should try to include as many games, artistic and musical activities as possible to make the learning a more fun activity. On the other hand, when working with older young learners we need to make sure there's less physical activity and pretending, both instructions and activities can be longer, and we can include more visual (movies, documentaries), technological (use of apps) and musical resources according to the age range.
