The study of general theories of learning and development are appropriate for the proper use and creation of pedagogical approaches. In this unit we focus on the language learning process from infancy to maturation. We find that it is wise to study the L1 and L2 components separately in order to best facilitate students' mastery of the L2 language. This unit also emphasizes the importance of executing different teaching styles for the first group ( 5 to 9 year-olds) and second group (9 to 13 year-olds) of young learners.
