In this unit, it talks about how to set a syllabus. we should test students'levels and analyze students' needs. There are five levels related to the EFL banding scales which are Starter, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate. There are many different theories as to what a syllabus should be designed around: the Structural syllabus(based on sequencing by grammar complexity), the functional-notional syllabus(based around communicative purpose), the learner-led syllabus(students have input to the design), the situational syllabus(based on the situational needs rather than grammar). It also talks about the types of test which includes diagnostic, placement, aptitude, achievement, proficiency, progress.
