In this unit, I learned about how to establish my role as a teacher within a class. I also learned about how to organize students within a physical space, and how to utilize excellent nonverbal communication to create a relaxed, controlled learning environment. I learned when to ask students to work alone, in groups, in pairs, or together as a class. I also learned how to go about reprimanding a student who misbehaves in class in a way that is professional and beneficial, not only to the student involved, but to the class as a whole. I learned about managing teacher talk time vs. student talk time, maintaining order within the classroom, and how to keep my students engaged throughout the lesson.
