This, very useful unit, covers the basic aspecs to be considered when planning the teaching of a course for young learners. The unit reviews the different types of tests (placement, achievement, diagnosis, aptitud, proficiency and progress) and the aim each of them has. It also gives a detailed reviews of the different levels our students might show and how this will help the teacher group them and the planning of the syllabus. Regarding the specific planning of the syllabus, the lesson covers the disign of it and the different factors that have to be taken into consideration when planning the course like the background of the students we might have, their culture, the resources and time available for the course as well as the employer or place of work. All of these could limit how we plan to teach the course. Another important aspect covered in the lesson is the different examinations we might need to prepare our students for, the needs analysis that we should do to have a better idea of the aims of the course and at the end of it the course evaluation that we should request the students to make in order to have some feedback.
