This unit covered authentic and non-authentic language materials, lesson planning, course books, Internet materials, and classroom management. On the topic of authentic and non-authentic materials, the unit addresses three questions to ask when designed non-authentic materials. These questions were explored in further detail in a way that I found helpful. Personally, I have had problems arise with non-authentic materials that I created for lessons because I did not fully think through the exact questions the unit poses. Specifically, I either did not have a clear idea of how to best use the materials I created or I did not know how I would effectively demonstrate the use of the materials. This is especially important for young learners, the unit establishes, because they will need a concrete demonstration. So, this part of the unit clearly articulated the cause of problems I have had with my own materials and young learners.
