Unit four delves into the present tense, which is subdivided into four categories: present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. Present simple is used to describe habits, facts, sequences, commentaries, stories, and directions. Present continuous takes on the form: subject + verb-ing. Present perfect takes on the form: subject + have (not) + past participle. Present perfect continuous takes on the form: subject + have + been + verb-ing. In this unit, I not only learned there were 12 possible tense forms in the English language, but also that many have a formulaic approach which makes teaching these tense forms much easier!
