Over the years English has become the most widespread language. According to the Babbel Magazine, the statistics show that there is above 1.5 billion of people who speak English all over the world. The article also says, “Out of the total 195 countries in the world, 67 nations have English as the primary language of 'official status'. Plus there are also 27 countries where English is spoken as a secondary 'official' language.” Comparing to other languages, English is simpler including that the alphabet has twenty six letters: five vowels and twenty one consonants. In my opinion, if you speak several languages, your home is everywhere. English is one of the languages that gives you a great opportunity to broaden your outlook on life. There are a lot of people who want to learn English for different purposes. Some people learn English because they want to go for traveling, other people needs English for their business and work, or maybe there are people who want to change their living place. People are so different. They have different interests and goals. But the only thing that unites all of us is language. English like any other languages have advantages and disadvantages. The one of advantages is communication. English helps people to find new friends all over the world through social media, also helps in business and international trades, improves non−native speakers’ fluency, and plays the role as an alternative language. Another advantage is traveling. If you want to go somewhere and you know how to speak English, this will be a good benefit for you. Nowadays, wherever you go to travel, there will always be people who will help you with directions or with finding attractions. The disadvantage of English is that it can be phonetically hard for a lot of non-native speakers who learn English, and words in a sentence can receive different stresses which can change the meaning of the whole sentence. Despite that English grammar has some difficulties with irregular verbs and inconsistent spelling; it remains the most influential language around the world. People are becoming more fluent in English but there are still many people who are trying to get fluent. In that case, TESOL and TEFL teachers get hired around the world to help people achieve their goals in learning. Some people take General English classes while others take Business English. Since English is widely spoken language, people believe that they should learn English as a second language. In the business field English has become the main language that people use for meetings, making agreements, trades, sales, and international business. English speaking companies make agreements with other foreign companies, because of that foreign companies are forced to hire interpreters who will help with translations. This is one of the ways of spreading the language. In conclusion, I want to say that nothing stops to learn English. All we need are our desire and aspiration. English gives a lot of opportunities all over the world including finding a job or getting educated abroad. I think English language unites and brings all of us together.
