For starting I want to mention that I'm in Vietnam. Beautiful country, beautiful people and a country with the privilege of having extremely intelligent students. Most of the schools in the city of Ho Chi Mihn in Vietnam are advanced in technology. These schools have screen projectors, sound equipment, smart screen and access to the computer with internet for every student. Students in their daily lives have the best in technology, but they also need teachers trained in the use of those, teachers who are at a higher level of knowledge in the use of those magnificent tools. We live in an advanced world, where practically everything we need in our daily lives has become a cellphone application. Students have access in their homes to the internet and to all new applications that come to market in their phones. The teacher must be aware of the reality in which we live and apply that technology in their teaching techniques and in every lesson offered in the classroom. Teaching a class using only the whiteboard and offering the lecture is not enough and will not be effective if the teacher is in a classroom where students are exposed to the technology of the present century. Most of the students will be distracted, since their mind is used to the screen of their cellphone, to a video game or to their computer. The teacher should be aware of what is new on the technological market, verify if it is possible to use it in his classroom, evaluate the benefits of the new technology, and use it for the benefit of the students. In my experience in Vietnam, I’ve seen how teachers receive training in their respective schools about the use of technology used in their classroom. Most classes were performed using a PowerPoint presentation or a Smart Screen TV which works in the same way as a smartphone. In most cases audiovisuals are used to accompany the offered lesson during the day. YouTube is an excellent tool to look for a video that adds value to the knowledge offered in the class. Technology is important in education because of better teaching techniques, environmental benefits, and personal exploration. The technology will help the student to have greater knowledge in communications, and it will give a more realistic picture of what will they find in their future work environment, in this world that is advanced in technology and every day keeps growing. Surely not everything are advantages, and neither is always possible. The technology also depends on the economic situation of the teacher, the students and the school. If the school, the students or the teacher do not have the economic capacity to acquire these tools, it would not be possible to get benefit from them. It is also necessary to be clear that, in the areas of poverty, students are not very exposed to the use of technology in their homes, which makes it possible for them to be more focus to a class that only has a whiteboard and teaching techniques without technology. We must advance as teachers, always looking for the best tools for our students to obtain the best results from them. If possible, we must always continue learning in order to continue moving with the technological advances that the world is offering to us.
