Teach English in Sangyuan Zhen - Hanzhong Shi

Over the course of my 10-years-teaching experience，I have a firm belief that “Attitude is everything”. Both for teachers and students, most importantly for the teachers. As a teacher, we should notice that we must form a sense of “Teaching Mission”. Because teaching is not just simply a job, it is like we are putting lots of seeds in the soil to let the seeds grow well and strongly. Students are the seeds, teachers are the gardeners, and are soil as well. So, I am always on the way of making myself to be a great gardener and be a fertile land. However, for me, there are some aspects that need to be improved in the following time, after I learnt iTTT class. And these are also the difficulties of teaching for me. The first is innovative planning. After learning the TESOL course, I begin to know that a good and professional class structure is very important, the “ESA” teaching method is so innovative to me, I didn’t know how to structure an effective class before. Therefore, I am going to take advantage of “ESA” method more in my future class to show my innovative attitude. Finally, let my students benefit more from my lessons. The second is effective coaching. A competent communicator with effective teaching skills can help students more. In iTTT course Unit one, it says “ a good teacher should know student’s weaknesses and try to give help and individual attention where necessary.” So, in the future, I will adjust myself to be a good communicator, be passionate and be kind to talk with students more, I have realized that if I don’t know what my students are thinking, I can not give them what they want, at the same time, I can’t let the follow my lesson planning., however innovative my class is. The third is dynamic classroom. In order to let the students totally absorb what I am teaching, to reach my teaching objectives. It is necessary for me, as the teacher, to make the class dynamic. Base on “ESA” teaching method, we can add more games, songs, videos, anything that is possible t build to a dynamic class. And of course, these are just tools, I am actually the best tool of my teaching. I should equip myself with more games, songs, humor and so on, to have more interactions with students. Anyway, it is for students’ good and for my own good. The fourth is motivational strategies. Still, in iTTT course Unit one，it says “a good teacher should be able to correct students without offending them or affecting their motivation. In the past, I seldomly focused on motivating students, but now I see how much important it is to motivate students. Sometimes a good and kind evaluation and feedback to your students can make a huge difference! I have tried it after I learnt TESOL course，it works. Students and I are getting closer, they love me and like my class, I give credit to motivation. I will keep on learning motivational strategies and keep motivating my students for good reasons. The fifth is self-improvement. Both technically and orally. I still need to keep working on enlarging my knowledge of the language that I am teaching. Learning is an ongoing training course. As a teacher, we should not be satisfied with the current state of achievement. Sometimes I met some high-level learner, they asked some questions that a little bit beyond my knowledge. So, I realize that I keep my passion of exploring any area of knowledge. All in all, I believe that I am being a better teacher compared with myself. Especially，I realize that there are lots of room for improvement after taking iTTT course. There is a saying goes “ a mediocre teacher tells, a good teacher explains and a great teacher inspires.” Come on , I can do it! I believe in myself.
