There are various ways a teacher can become more confident in front of a class. We can say that one of the most important things is that they must learn how to develop a topic properly. This can be achieved by referring to the topic, and enlarging on it in various ways throughout the lesson. It will unify the presentation, aid the students on understanding what the teacher is saying and remember the content with ease. By achieving this, in a simple and clear way, the teacher will feel that something valuable has been taught; therefore it will boost their confidence 100%. Experienced teachers know the value of focusing on one topic and working around it. When they are preparing a lesson, the topic helps them to focus attention on a narrower field of information and to think more deeply about it. The result is that instead of superficially touching on many points, they develop their material in a way that is more beneficial to the students. When each of the main points is directly connected to the topic and helps the development, it will help the students remember those points and appreciate their significance. After a topic is introduced, the information related to it can be reinforced by repetition. When we listen to a piece of music, we often hear some parts of the melody repeated over and over again. It may be the same melody but the instruments, rhythm, or tone may vary as well. During a lesson, the repetition of key words and concepts, as in a musical piece, will help the students better remember and acquire the information we are trying to provide. Synonyms of these words or the theme rephrased serves as a variation on the topic. Use of such means will cause for it to be the main thought students carry away. Each topic and lesson will have a variety of key points to develop. These are important ideas that are crucial to achieving the objectives of the lesson. On the first place, in order to determine which the key points are, the teacher must consider their students. For example: Are they familiar with the topic, or is it too foreign to them? What is the cultural background of the group? What is the age and language level range? Is it possible that parts of the content may offend somebody? Second, the teacher must be sure that the objective on the subject they plan to use is clear in their mind. Regardless of how many main points the teacher uses, they must be sure to develop each one sufficiently. Allow the students enough time to examine each main point so that it becomes firmly impressed on their minds. The lesson should give an impression of simplicity. This does not always depend on the amount of material presented. If the teacher´s thoughts are clearly grouped under just a few main headings and they are developed one at a time, the lesson will be easy to follow and hard to forget. By developing the topic properly, repeating they key parts in different ways, and addressing them according to the students needs, the lesson will be effective. All of these points will contribute to the teacher’s confidence and better performance in front of the classroom, and most importantly, to its success.
