A good TEFL teacher must understand that there are a lot of differences between young and adult learners. But also they have some similarities. First of all, one of the main difference between young learners and adult learners is their discipline and behaviour at class. Adults learners are more disciplined, independent and organised than young learners. They do not need in big attention of teacher. That's why there are should be different ways of working with them. With young learners teacher should take under control of all class, every time give certain instructions and be adequately with classroom management, while with adult learners it is possible to allow them to work out for themselves and give them opportunity to make a line of the lesson. The second differences is motivation of adult and young learners. Adult learners are more motivated, they know why and what for they learn language because it is their own decision to go for studing. Young learners have to learn English because it is school program and they do not have another choice,that's why they do not recognise the aim of studing and do not have enough motivation and enthusiasm during learning. Besides, young and adult learners have different way of studing. Lessons with young learners should be short, active, fun and extremely fascinating because they can not focus for a long time on one thing and can become tired very fast, while lessons of adult learners can be longer and be focused only on learning tasks. That why it is possible to give them deeper knowledge in each topic. It can be strange but there are some difficulties with teaching adult learners. First, at lessons they can be very tired after their work day, that is why teacher should find way to keep attention on studing. Second, adults can be more nervous and feel anxious. They afraid to do anything because they are “too old” as they can think, that is why they can deny to take a part in some exersise in which they do not fell themselves very comfortable. Finally, adult learners come to lesson with some experience in their lifetime. They could study English at school, university that is why the can have their own view, opinions and ideas. Most of young learners do not have any expierence, they come only with their energy. We can see the brightest differences between adult and young group of learners. But they have some similarities. First of all, both of them need certain instruction from their teachers. Adult learners should get praise from teacher as well as young learners. Good feedback from teacher has big motivation for learners of different ages and it is doesn't matter if you are child or not. For better learning both groups should have some kind of challenge on lessens. Everyone need to have a good attitude to their person, be respected, supported. Climate in classes should be warm, fun and friendly and comfortable for learning then studing will be more sucsessful. Every lesson should be well thought over and planned.
