Some people say parents are children’s first teachers and family is their first school in life. From all those sayings, we can see that parents play a vital important role in children’s growth. In education area, in my perspective, firstly, parents should be the kids’ teacher. Parents are the models who have most influences on kids. The ways they talk, the ways they work, the ways they behave, all have unconscious effect on kids. I can still clearly remember that when I was a kid, my father always reading some books during his free time, and recommending good books for me to study. He set an knowledgeable model in my childhood, I really respected him and determined to be a person like him in the future. So I followed his steps, I tried to control my game time, and spend more time in reading. What’s more, I also think that parents should have the basic knowledge to teach the children, so that when kids have some difficulties in study after school, they can at least have someone to ask. Like in English study, if parents are able to speak English, then they can create an English environment at home, children can practice it also after school, which will be quite helpful in language learning. Secondly, I think parents should also be the student of kids. Children get information through a wide range of channels, watching TV, listening to the radio, playing on the computer, etc. Those are all important channels for children to get information. There are many things that we parents don't know while our children know. This requires us as parents, timely update our existing knowledge, expand their knowledge field, and children to learn together. Sometimes, play a game and acting like students is also a good way of parenting. For example, parents can turn the living room as a classroom, act as students and let the kids play the role of teacher. By asking the kids to teach what he or she learns at school and teach to you, is a good way to help kids to review the knowledge he or she learn in class. Being the students of kids can greatly aroused the enthusiasm of the child, so that the child enjoys the joy of success, the child's learning from the original "want me to learn" into "I want to learn". Thirdly, parents should be the friends of kids. Treat children as friends requires parents and children to be on an equal footing. Take care of children's dreams. Parents should remind our children when they are over proud and encourage them when they are frustrated. Some parents scold at kids when their exam results are not ideal. But at this point, what parent should do is to calm down, try to be more patient, ask the reason behind. When the parents have already put his mind on understanding children's ideas and trying to help them solve problems, they may find that the children have more self-esteem. To be a genuine friends of kids, parents should give him patience, tolerance, understanding and respect. Kids are like the mirror of parents and the reflections as the way they are. Parents should learn some education methods to educate kids, become friends of them, and comprehend the kids’ inner world and accompany them with love to building the promising future together.
