This unit thoroughly discussed different areas of classroom management. The range of topics included the importance of eye contact, gesture, and voice, classroom seating arrangements, and group/pair work vs individual work. The unit also discussed how to effectively establish rapport with students and maintaining discipline while remaining respectful. One of my goals as a teacher is to show personal interest in all students, and be sure I'm giving a fair amount of individual encouragement during lessons. After reading this unit I feel more prepared to handle discipline in the classroom when the need arises.
