Growing up in this generation parents started to worry about the academic grade of the student. Tutoring center is no longer an unfamiliar place nor word. In today's education system, the school even offers a similar program for those who are behind on grade. Since many tutoring centers conduct a one to one teaching in order to improve student's grade, many would have a misunderstanding about one to one lesson. Some might say the one to one teaching is just a review for those students who fall behind. Some might say the one to one teaching is just a waste of money because it does not provide as many resources as the school. And some might say the one to one lesson would not work since the student does not like a specific subject. Despite the correctness of the viewpoint above, this paper will discuss the pros and cons of the one to one teaching, and why one to one lesson is not a poor choice. Of course, from the teachers' perspective, teaching one to one would have different challenges than teaching a whole class. For instance, since there are a various amount of published materials are dedicated to classroom purpose rather than one to one, finding lesson materials or creating the content would be a big challenge for the teacher. Furthermore, there would also be a personality challenge for both teacher and student, which would be difficult to be solved when there is no group work where you can drag away student's attention and fit into the group. Especially for the adults, with their life experiences and persistence with some perspective, it could be difficult for teacher and student to get along. From the students' point of view, one to one would not be preferable for them as they would have to do all the work alone, and it is most likely least favorable for the teenage students. Lack of group work can also boredom the student as they would have to deal with the same person all the time. Furthermore, some teacher could be over passionate and lead to stress on the student. However, one to one has many positive advantages which could be an alternative for a classroom studying. Although the truth of the published materials is limited for teachers to select, when finds out student's language skill and level, it would be easier for the teacher to look for the resources and even create the material to fit student's level. The best about this part, it brings the creativity inside and not boredom the student quickly. On the other hand with the downside of the student will be working alone, the fact of the student gets all the attention from the teacher, able to work at their own pace, and get direct feedback from the teacher is a great advantage. Furthermore, the teacher can even limit the workload base on the student's language level or work together with the student to make them less stressful. Regardless of the disadvantage mentioned above, there are few more disadvantage when conducting one to one lesson. However, there is always a way to solve it, and when compares with the advantage that one to one brings, there is virtually a value in one to one lesson. It is not to say that the students should choose one to one teaching than classroom section, but there are more values in the one to one training which both students and parents misunderstand. With the advantage of student can learn more from individualized lessons, the one to one learning is not a poor choice.
