The children hold the future of the world in their hands, whether it will be positive or negative depends largely on the kind of education and the willingness of the children to learn. The education of the children is so important that consideration has to be made about how to nurture those bright minds for the future. To achieve this, it is imperative to get a place where a good educator and learner can shape their destinies together, whether we like it or not the culture and tradition of a host community will rub off on the teacher. One of the top roles and importance of a teacher is being a resource specialist, the learners spend more than half of the day in a schooling environment which means that the learner looks up to the teachers for formation and correction of character and sense of purpose as such the teacher is the ‘go to’ for advice on issues of life and studies. If there is genuine relationship between a learner and teacher, the learner will share deep issues bothering him/her and If the teacher is observant, he/she will know when the child is happy or sad and if the child is sad would help make the child happy after getting necessary support and advise from the teacher, the teacher helps to mould the child both educationally and psychologically. Furthermore, a teacher plays an important role of supporting the child academically, a teacher may evaluate the student’s performance and potential, for instance, teachers may examine a student’s portfolio to judge the students’ overall progress to know how best to support them in learning a new language. Teachers can use a hand – on – approach that utilizes props to help the children understand abstract concepts, master new language, develop critical thinking skills. Subsequently, Teachers play the role of mentor in the lives of the students, Teachers help mentor these students through guidance and counselling, they guide these students to make the right choice of majors in the university. The teacher would have found their area of interest and their strong subject thereby guiding the students to further study that course in school. They attempt to engage the child’s interest and focus on the lessons and activities in the environment, they model desirable behaviours for the children, following the ground – rules of the class, exhibiting a sense of calm, consistency working to teach courteous behaviours and conflicts. In addition, The teacher play the role of a helping hand, the teacher carefully evaluates the effectiveness of their work and the design of the environment every day, the observe and evaluate each child’s individual progress, they respect and protect their student’s independence, the teachers know when to step in and set limits or lend a helping hand and when it is in a child’s best interests for them to step back and not interfere. The teachers are supportive, offering warmth, security, stability and non- judgmental acceptance of each child. They facilitate communication among the children and help the children to learn how to communicate their thoughts to adults, they interpret the children’s progress and their work in the classroom to parents, the school staff and the community, they present clear, interesting and relevant lessons to the children. To summarize, the teacher is diagnosticians who can interpret patterns of growth and development, and behaviour in order to better understand the children and make necessary plans in assisting and bettering the life of the child which of course has a ripple effect on the immediate community and the world at large.
