This unit examines Vocabulary, Grammar and Functions. It illustrates how these three language aspects can be taught in terms of the factors that need to be considered and supports each with a suitable ESA activity ideas that teachers might find useful. These activity ideas are quite expository as they guide teachers into using the appropriate activity for each stage of the ESA structure in teaching ESL learners. For example, role plays and debate are strictly for the activate stage while activities like word scramble and gap-fill are appropriate in the study stage.
