This unit is all about lesson structure and planning. As a student, I have experienced lessons that feel long, boring, or even confusing at times. It is clear that this is because my instructor did not use the ESA structure when presenting information. If a teacher does not allow students time to study the material, they will not be able to use it in an Activate stage. Students need all of the parts of the lesson to achieve retention. I also found the various ways to arrange this pattern of lesson structure based on the needs of my class. I am excited to implement the Patchwork and Boomerang versions in my classroom.
