The unit first describes the characteristics of a good teacher which can be summarized as follows: A good teacher is someone that cares about his teaching but cares even more about the learning of the students. The unit then identifies 9 different roles a teacher might have during a lesson. The role the teacher has to adapt mainly depends on the type of activity, the age of the students and what the students wish to achieve. The unit then describes what common characteristics every good learner has. They all posses a strong will to commit themselves to learn the language and are highly motivated. The unit also notices that a number of factors such as age, culture, language level, motivation, life experience and behavior problems need to be considered when looking at English learners. Finally the unit breaks down and defines the different ability levels of the English language. The most important thing I have learned from this unit is that a good teacher cares even more about the learning of his students and that a good teacher knows which role to take on and when.
