This unit was interesting in thinking about positioning myself in a classroom setting. I've not had recent formal teaching experience, so it is important to think about how to arrange seating or respond to already set seating arrangements. It also emphasized points that are key to creating rapport and maintaining order in the classroom. Remembering names, keeping content interesting and use of inflection in the voice are key. I did find it interesting that the material did not discuss use of computers--either for students or teachers--as this is commonplace in many teaching settings. I would be interested to learn more about the impact of computer use in a seated environment and how to make this more interesting for participants.
