To begin this Summative Task, the most appropriate option will first be to define a lesson plan. A lesson plan is a written document that outlines the details of how certain topics in the syllabus are planned to be taught during a teaching session. A lesson plan contains several components of each aspect havings its own importance both to the teacher and the administrative staff of the Institution. A lesson plan usually contains the basic information of the teacher's name, class level and subject followed by the most important component such as the set induction, length or amount of time for a teaching session or period, topic, aims/objectives, content, resources, strategies, evaluation and activities Apart from the basic information that can be used by the administrative staff in a school to ensure that the teacher is actually following the syllabus and doing his or her work, the lesson plan is most beneficial to the teacher as it can be used as a guide to follow throughout each teaching session. The most important part of a teaching session is a set induction that is usually known as an engaging stage. The set induction states how the teacher intends to grasp the attention of the students at the beginning of each class. Most of the times in the engagement stage, it starts off by having class discussion and exchange of ideas of the topic that is planned to be taught. Another important component of the lesson plan is the topic that has to be covered. A topic or module sometimes takes several teaching sessions to be covered and it is important to have an idea of how long a topic will be taken to complete so as to carefully plan out the other topics.
