Knowing the development of irregular verbs is interesting, but it does not help to learn them. To study irregular verbs, we must first understand what regular verbs are. Regular verbs always follow the same pattern. They are equal in the past and easy to form. In general, all we have to do is add the letters -ed to the end of the word. Irregular verbs, on the other hand, do not follow that pattern. We can recognize them because they are different in the past. Thus a verb in English is irregular when it does not end in -ed- in both simple past and perfect past. So it is very important to drill frequently (or as needed) with the appropriate verbs charts. Some easy ways to do it grouping the common irregular verbs, learning verbs in all their forms (is the fastes way as English is not as loades in tenses as other languages)and memorize the most common irregular verbs little by little. Is very imporatant that students do not feel stressed about this as these are pivotal learning points, so is good to allow frequent checking on the verbs charts.
