This unit is about the core components of teaching a new language, which are vocabulary, grammar and functions. With each of the three components addressed we are presented with information on what exactly these components are, why they need to be taught and how they can best be introduced to students. The lesson goes on to provide examples of straight-line, boomerang and patchwork ESA styles of lesson plans that can be utilized to teach each of the three components. Examples of activities for each phase of the lesson plan are also provided for each of the three components.
