There are numerous methodologies to attempt to replicate the natural process of learning a foreign language including grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, presentation, practice and production, task-based learning, communicative language training, community language learning, the silent way, suggestopaedia, and the lexical approach. The best methodology depends on the personality, culture, and needs of the students. It is necessary that the student is exposed to language as much as possible, receives input from the teacher, communicates tasks offering real learning opportunities, their level of stress and anxiety, and the students should be encouraged to discover the language on their own. Furthermore, it is recommended to incoporate the engage, study and activate system within lessons. Engaging the students, cultivating time/space for the students to study the material during the study phase and applying the material in the activate phase. There are three types of ESA lessons including the "straight forward" ESA lesson, the "boomerang" ESA lesson, and the "patchwork" ESA lesson. Furthermore, giving feedback should encourage self-awareness, improvement and be positive.
