English language is being spoken internationally. It unites people across the globe. Majority of the people around the globe knows a word or two. Non-English speaking country comes to an English speaking country to learn English. They come to America, Canada, Australia or UK. Countries like India, Singapore, Philippines, Pakistan, South Africa and Nigeria a large number of people that speaks English. Korea for example sends their kids to the Philippines for summer english school. In Japan, they have special remedial class for students that want to learn english. Chinese sends their kids abroad to study. Online ESL class is very popular and not expensive way of learning English. Watching english shows also another way of learning the language. One of the BTS members says he learned English from watching the show “Friends”. I grew up in the Philippines and we learn English from the moment that we start to learn how to speak. Parents teach their kids how to count from 1 to 10 or how to close and open their babies tiny hands. At school lessons and manuals are in English. Teachers instructions are in English. We are not allowed to talk in vernacular specially if its English subject or there will be penalty. We are trained to speak english to prepare us from the real world after we graduate. That training helped me a lot when me and my family moves to America. During my first year in America, I noticed that not everyone speaks English. Especially in California where there are many Asian and Hispanic immigrant that don't speak the language, but know some words. In this situation, you can see how important it is to know the language. I know a lot of people that have been living in America for a long time but don't speak the language at all and I see their struggle communicating to other people. Asian that doesn't have the alphabet in their language like Chinese, Korean and Japanese finds it very challenging to learn English. They have to know the Alphabet equivalent to the characters in their language and learning the grammar. English language can help a country in a lot of ways. Especially in business aspect and tourism. For business aspect, to expand the business worldwide one must know how to communicate with investors or customers that don't speak the language of a country. For tourism, a lot of tourists come to a country where English is not the first language. The language that helps communicate both ends is English. I went to Japan early this year and the only language the helps me with my travel is English. Our tour guide that is from Hongkong speaks in English. The staff from our hotels also speaks English. Even if I don’t know their language I still able to travel without a worry. Although not all Japanese speak English, but they know a word or two. English is a universal language. Whether its American, British or Canadian English all that matters is that we communicate with one purpose but to understand each other.
