Unit 2 introduces parts of speech ( definite article, adjective, noun, verb, preposition, indefinite article, adverb, gerund and pronoun)and teaches to recognize them in the sentence. I have learnt that nouns can be singular and plural, countable and uncountable. And there are 5 main types of nouns: common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. Adjectives describe nouns and things and have comparative and superlative forms. Articles can be definite (the) and indefinite (a/an). English verbs have base form ( which is called infinitive), past simple, past participle, present participle. Auxiliary verbs combine present or past participles or infinitives to form a structure. Adverbs add meaning or information to the action. Gerund is the -ing form of a verb used as noun. Pronouns are used instead of precise nouns or noun phrases. They can be personal, possessive, reflexive, relative. Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or a pronoun and some other word in the sentence. Conjunctions join words and sentences.
