There are three main tenses in English Language; past, present and future. There are three different present tenses; present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Present Simple is used for habits or routines, for facts and permanent situations, commentaries, directions and instructions, headlines, some stories and for historical sequences. Present Continuous is used when talking about an action that is in progress at the time of speaking, talking about a temporary action, emphasizing frequent actions and describing developing situations. Present Perfect is used when talking about experiences, when the action is finished but the time period is not at the time of speaking, talking about something which began in the past and is still true now, and for describing past actions with present results. Present Perfect Continuous is used to talk abut an ongoing action emphasizing how long it continued, to describe a recently finished activity with present result.
