From Unit 6, I learned Past tenses: Past simple, Past continuous, Past perfect and Past perfect continuous. Action completed before another past action is the past perfect tense. Completed past action is the past simple. Action in progress at a past time is past continuous. We use past perfect continuous to talk about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
