I currently use an explicit teaching model to plan lesson in my current position rather than the ESA model detailed in Unit 3. There are similar aspects that are relatable including the Engage phase of the lesson. I feel very passionate about the Engage phase, as when students are interested and actively participating in a lesson, retainment of content is much higher. This model resonates with the gradual release of responsibility that I practice, namely, warm up, I do, we do, you do, plough back. This unit also gave me some additional activity ideas for each stage of the lesson which I found valuable for beginning English students.
