I have been teaching ESL, mainly to South Koreans, for approximately 20 years but it was very much a learn-on-the-job situation. I was not aware of the theory, so found that section very interesting. Some of it seemed odd (like the Silent Way) and I have no idea how I would incorporate that into one of my classes. Others, like Grammar-translation I have tried a little. I've found that, with very low-level students, it's helpful if you can throw them a word or two in their own language. I like the theory behind CLT and will be trying that in my classes going forward. Having never taken a TEFL course, I found the E-S-A information really useful. I already use many of the techniques listed for getting the students to speak, but there were quite a few that I hadn't considered, that I will try to use in future.
