I have personally gained both an academic appreciation and a professional respect for tefl from this course; I plan to put both of these aspects into action by humbly continuing my academic efforts while at the same time pursuing a greater level of professional experience and involvement. On the academic level I have gained an appreciation for the methodologies, philosophies, and sincere approaches that have been developed and presented by those who have helped to shape and develop the field of tefl. The years of study, insight, and organization are evident, and humbling. This appreciation extends to a deeper understanding and awareness that I have simply brushed the surface of tefl, and with a rather broad brush at that. I look forward to slowly expanding upon my personal academic knowledge in the coming years. Parallel to the above is a professional respect for tefl. Each lesson plan has been organized and thought out with clear goals and motivations in mind. It is evident that the design and interest of the course developers is to truly assist students in learning how to be effective and professional tefl instructors. I have true respect for this, and for the standards that are established. A further insight in relation to a respect for tefl as a profession is a better understanding of the global interest and need in learning english, as well as a sincere understanding that we as tefl instructors can truly be of service to our future students, who can benefit tremendously from our efforts. As such, we as professional instructors should do our best to honor the hope, aspirations, and expectations of our students.
