I would say the biggest gain for me is the practice of teaching grammar to students (and learning it as well?). We grow up in a place where these are “natural things.” At least in the united states, not many people learn grammar properly unless they go and study it (university, etc.) So how do we expect to teach it? At least, teach it correctly/effectively. I have experience teaching grammar but I never really studied/learned how to be very effective. This course has thought me that. Although there is always space for improvement, I feel I can do a better job now; be “fair” to my students. I have already put the learned into action. I no longer tell my students to open the grammar book and “figure out” how I will make them understand the lesson. I have put the ESA lesson plan into action. I now make sure my lessons have an engage-study-activate phase. From experience, utilizing this approach has made a big difference in my teaching and in the students learning/understanding. The same applies to all other classes; not just grammar.
