I have gained a tremendous amount of confidence from this course! While I know I will still be nervous my first time teaching, I think I will be well-prepared. I now at least have an idea of the care, planning, and organization that goes into an english lesson, and I have created many that I would be excited to carry out in a classroom environment. I'm familiar with the different tools that are available for teachers and know their strengths and weaknesses. Also, in my efforts to complete the course, I found a ton of helpful resources on the internet that I know I will use later on. I've become constantly aware of teaching tools that occur in my every day environment – every show I watch, magazine I read, and radio program I listen to I now evaluate for its language level and teaching potential!
I've also gained quite an appreciation for the complexity of the english language. Our grammar is tough to learn, and can even give native speakers some trouble, as I learned when I answered questions incorrectly!
To put into action what I've learned I plan to plan! Lesson planning really helped me to not only get my thoughts in order about a class, but also to get excited about it. I'll keep the template and use it frequently. I do plan to be flexible in my lessons, but also prepared.
