Over the past few months of studying this course we feel we have gained a better insight of the esl world. As we currently teach in South Korea, we had some experience with an esl language classroom. This course has shown us things that we were doing wrong and taught us how to correct our previous mistakes. It also taught us how to adapt and modify things that we were doing correctly to better our lessons. We feel it had also given us a new found confidence in our lessons. It has taught us to properly start a class using the Engage, Study and Activation methods. This has proven invaluable in our current lessons. We have seen not only an improvement in ourselves as teachers, but an improvement in our students' english skills as well as their motivation for learning the language. We interact with the students better, and we understand more of what they are finding difficult. When a student doesn't understand something, instead of thinking “Why don't you understand this?” we are now looking to ourselves to make it easier to understand or re-evaluate the effectiveness of a point of our lesson. As well as some of the new information we have learned, this course served as an excellent refresher for some of the grammar rules and concepts that we had forgotten. The ability to draw on this freshly renewed information will serve us both well in our esl journey. We will continue to use the information learned in this course to continue our careers in the esl industry while teaching in Korea. One of us has enjoyed this course so much that we are in the process of applying for a Masters in tesol. For the duration of our stay here in Korea we hope to consistently create, refine and perfect our lessons and grow to be excellent esl teachers. Thank you for the well laid out and informative course.
