I have learned a lot from this course! To begin with, while I know there is much more to be learned in regards to english grammar, the overview here has been of much value. As a native speaker, I really wouldn't know where to begin discussing grammar, and the course material has given me confidence. Whether it be one-on-one or in a large group, the ability to teach and correct grammatical mistakes in a systematic manner will be necessary, because it is not enough to just say “that doesn't sound right! In english, we would say.....” In addition, although I know it is not the ONLY method out there, learning and utilizing ESA provides a structure from which to begin teaching efl. Along these same lines, having a collection of lesson plans now prepared will give me something to draw from. I still feel like I would have to work hard and do some more reading as I go along, but I have now received a fairly broad foundation that will be useful in the efl classroom.
