I have been teaching the last two and a half years in South Korea. I wasn't sure what to expect, but throughout the course I have learned a lot. I learned more about grammar concepts and had to think about how I would teach them to students of various levels. I also learned more ways to engage students and how to think outside the box for ways to keep a class fun and interesting. I also learned about how to utilize various kinds of material. One of the most helpful things I learned in the course was lesson planning. I have been teaching kindergarten and elementary students at private schools. The curriculum at the schools was already set, so I didn't have much experience with making lesson plans. This course taught me how to plan balanced lessons that target various language skills. I also learned how to build continuity between lessons. This will greatly help me in my next job because I have to create the curriculum, so I will get to apply everything I learned in this course to my classes. I will also be teaching adults for my next job, so I will be able to apply what I learned about adult learners in the course to help me build a curriculum that meets their needs.
