I had learned in this lesson that the passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the action and the object of a sentence rather than the subject. This means that the subject is either less important than the action itself or that we don't know who or what the subject is. I did not discover how much I knew but rather how little. The knowledge was invaluable and I will always appreciate it. I learned many of these things at school of course but that was a long time ago and so the refresher was invaluable for me WE must continually focus on the students ability to understand. We as teachers need to focus on the tools and knowledge we ave to help them understand and learn. We must keep things simple enough to yet be able to push the learning envelope
