I have learned what words fall under modal verbs and the level of formality or urgency that comes along with using and interchanging them. As a writer I am familiar with passive voice but have learned some ideas about how to teach it to my students. Phrasal verbs will definitely require a great deal of review for both me and my students but the tip to drop it into lessons and conversations every now and then was a great one.
