This unit gives a brief overview of the different levels and types of students that a teacher may encounter. What I appreciated the most about this unit were the following two points: 1) that the teacher has no control over the issues that students experience at home or outside of the classroom and 2) the teacher does not have to feign expertise in their students' (usually adults) industries and fields. A teacher should know his/her own place and know his/her purpose and role in the classroom.
